Last Saturday, on March 10th, nearly 300 teachers gathered in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Little America Hotel for VIPKID’s first-ever regional conference, Journey.

From keynote speakers to a swag store to team-building activities and Friday night meetups, Journey created many opportunities to connect and engage within our VIPKID community.

The event kicked off Friday night with several meetups planned throughout the city, including bowling, a scavenger hunt and an escape room.

The Community and Happiness Team kicked of the official conference on Saturday morning with CEO Cindy Mi, Utah Senator Howard Stephenson, and Angela Doan from the mayor’s office. After lunch, we heard from co-founder Jessie Chen on the student journey! Dino even made a surprise visit all the way from Beijing.

The conference also included breakout sessions led by veteran VIPKID teachers including sessions on how to effectively use TPR, best practices on using the ManyCam in your classroom and how to help your referrals get through the application process.

We concluded our conference with creative breakout sessions, where teachers were able to rock out at an airband station, compete in teams, create their own VIPKID keepsake and even decorate cupcakes. Check out the performance of the winning airband team featuring Jessie Chen!

We are thrilled that we were able to share this day with so many teachers. In case you missed any of the action, be sure to check out our conference’s hashtag, #VIPKIDJourney, to see it live for yourself!

We look forward to hosting new Journey events in the near future and we’ll keep you all posted on what we have in store next.
